Everyone knows that communication is more than talking. In any conversation, each person needs to take turns talking and listening, as well as expressing interest through nonverbal cues. Discussion Time
As a part of developing well-rounded communication, we encourage children to share stories, tell about their hobbies, share their dreams, or tell their favorite foods and desserts. Sharing these experiences with one another enables children to practice their communication skills. In turn, the children will bond with each other and have relationships for years to come.
Asking Questions
Asking good questions is an acquired skill, and it’s one our teachers encourage every child to gain! Although questions may seem simple, such as “what’s your favorite color?”, these questions reveal curiosity. Fostering this curiosity is how children grow from asking simple questions to asking questions from deep thought. It is a skill that has lifelong benefits.
Again, this skill is best practiced with a group of peers under the instruction of a teacher. It’s even better when children have years to practice this skill before starting school, so they can ask good questions of their school teachers.
