What Childcare Financial Assistance Programs Are Available?

Childcare can be expensive!

Sometimes, the cost of childcare can be an indicator of the quality of care. Never settle for cheap childcare services that may put your child at risk for neglect or abuse! A business that charges reasonable rates indicates it has responsible, educated employees and places a high value on quality childcare.

That doesn’t mean quality childcare should cost an arm and a leg to you! Luckily, there are several financial assistance programs that can offset the cost of quality childcare.

Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)

This Kentucky program helps qualifying families with low income to get financial assistance for childcare costs. It’s quick to check eligibility and is one of the easiest programs to gain financial assistance.

State Funds

Each state has programs funded by the federal government that assist families with childcare for children under the age of 13.

Dependent Care Account

Check with your employer to see if they offer a Flexible Spending Account (FSA).  Opening an FSA account will allow you to set aside up to $5,000 for childcare that is tax-free.

Child Tax Credit

A child tax credit can be used for anything. But if you’re looking to make childcare more affordable, consider putting your child tax credit refunds towards daycare costs.

Qualifying for one or more of these programs makes quality childcare affordable for all!
